I take a laid-back and relatable approach to therapy. I affirm and accept all individuals, and welcome everyone into my office. However I know that the relationship between a clinician and client is a crucial part of the healing process, so I place a lot of emphasis on finding the right fit. I take a systemic approach, meaning I care about all aspects of your life. We'll discuss your work, family dynamics, and relationships, because I believe they all play a role in your well-being. I want to understand your world from your perspective and help you make changes that align with how your brain works, how your heart feels, and what you value.
In our sessions, you can expect me to show up as my authentic self - comfy clothes, fidget toys and speaking freely. I don't try to be anyone other than myself, and more than anything, I want to create a safe and nonjudgmental space where you can be yourself too. No matter where you are on your healing journey, I'll provide acceptance and support, while also gently pushing you to move forward and take steps towards positive change. Together, we'll create a plan to make your life a better place for you.
I have a unique and out-of-the-box way of thinking, which definitely influences the way I conduct therapy. As a visual learner, I love a diagram, but you can also expect some personal stories and crazy metaphors to help new concepts stick. I value the work you do outside of session as well, so I regularly share resources, apps, articles, videos and assign homework to help you apply what we discuss to your life in a way that works for you. I balance structured teaching of applicable and practical skills structure with flexibility for processing, venting and reacting to life. I have found that this approach allows me to tailor the skills I teach to be relevant, accurate, and important for what you're going through, and makes sure I provide space for your emotions and solutions for your problems.
Unlike many other fields, as a psychologist, my goal is for you to eventually not need therapy anymore. If you're not getting better and your life isn't improving, then I'm not doing my job. I'm dedicated to helping you solve your problems and find stability, joy, and a sense of self again.
