I have been providing trauma-informed services to children and families since earning my Master of Arts degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University in 2010. Through my journey of working in the social work field I have come to appreciate the resiliency and strength people possess inside of them. People are amazing in what they can endure and overcome, which is why I believe every client has the inner resources within themselves to bring healing, light and love into their life. When working with clients, I treat them as the experts of their lives and work collaboratively with them in finding a solution to their problems. I value every client's autonomy and view myself as a guide in helping to empower them to overcome their obstacles.
I have experience working with individuals with complex trauma, intergenerational trauma, family violence, physical/sexual/emotional abuse, exploitation, depression, anxiety, self-injurious behavior, suicidal ideation, parenting stress and divorce. I am particularly passionate about supporting parents who are struggling to cope with their child's mental health condition.
When working with clients, I utilize models such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Psychoeducation, Strengths Approach, and Motivational Interviewing. I believe in the power of a strong therapeutic relationship and know that it is built from trust and mutual respect. I aim to create a space of safety and strive to act with cultural humility in my interactions with all clients.
